Introducing the newest items in our GO School Finance Resource Library
Across our state’s school districts, budget concerns are increasingly top-of-mind. With many districts facing significant cuts and challenging funding decisions, it’s more important than ever to understand how these financial changes affect our schools and impact opportunities for student learning.
That’s why GO launched our school finance library in the fall, designed specifically for our network to help demystify complex budget issues. Our easy-to-understand guides empower you to navigate the complicated world of school finance and governance, identify advocacy opportunities, and engage confidently on behalf of our students and communities.
We’re excited to introduce the two newest items in GO’s School Finance Library. The first resource, the Annual School District Budget Cycle, outlines the key stages involved in creating a district’s annual budget, highlighting when your advocacy can be most effective. Our second resource on Interim Budget Reports provides clarity on these key required district reports that offer insights into a district’s financial health during the current school year and their future projections. While these reports can seem intimidating, they play a crucial role in district decision-making and are essential for informed advocacy.
In addition to these new guides, our library also features resources on the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), Parent Advisory Committees (PACs), and Differentiated Assistance. Check out these guides to learn more about how school district funding works and how you can play an active role in it. All of our bilingual guides can be found on our School Finance Library webpage.
We will continue to release new items throughout the year. Let us know what would be helpful for you!
