Andrea has been working in education for a decade, first starting as a volunteer in the classroom at the age of 12. An East Oakland native, Andrea attended and later taught in both public charter and district-run schools. Her passion is to build decolonized curriculum and work with her community in Oakland to empower youth and families who face racial inequities in the school systems.
The members of our Leadership Council are Oakland natives, residents, parents, grandparents, former teachers, principals, and alumni of Oakland public schools. Our leaders have deep connections to Oakland and strong backgrounds in education. The Leadership Council supports and guides our work in the best interest of Oakland students.
