Financial aid can significantly reduce the cost of college.

But all too often, millions of dollars in aid remain unallocated.

Financial aid application completion is on the rise in California, as recent data shows an increase of over 7 percent from the 2020-21 school year. For some California school districts, their 2021-22 completion rates have exceeded their pre-pandemic percentages. Yet, for low-income and first-generation students across California, there is still more ground to gain.

We can do better. We can change these outcomes if we come together as a community to share more accurate information about financial aid and help more students apply.

A Parent’s Guide to Financial Aid  features FAFSA and CADAA updates for the 2023-24 award year, a look at financial aid legislation and completion data, and a new section with scholarship resources. Please share this resource widely with your networks!
