Senior Manager of Development

Mariko brings nearly a decade’s experience working in education. Born and raised in Northern California, Mariko attended California public schools and graduated from Portland State University where she played for the university’s NCAA volleyball team.

After graduating from college, Mariko joined Teach For America where she taught middle school science in Jacksonville, Florida. Prior to joining GO Public Schools, Mariko served as the Manager of External Affairs for the Teach For America – California Capital Valley Team based in Sacramento.

The members of our Leadership Council are Oakland natives, residents, parents, grandparents, former teachers, principals, and alumni of Oakland public schools. Our leaders have deep connections to Oakland and strong backgrounds in education. The Leadership Council supports and guides our work in the best interest of Oakland students.
