Amy is the Chief Executive Officer of Summer Search, a national youth development non profit organization based in San Francisco. Summer Search works with low-income high school students, assisting them in developing the skills and character traits they need to become college-educated leaders who give back to their families and communities.
Amy grew up with a front row seat to the fulfillment of the American dream. Her mother emigrated to the U.S. from Panama and became the first in her family to graduate from college. Amy’s parents hard work and determination catapulted their family to the middle class, helping numerous family members seeking their own version of the dream along the way. Their message to Amy: “You can be anything you want to be. AND you have to know your community and give back.” Amy’s life’s work is built on those words.
Her commitment has been honed in leadership roles across the nonprofit sector. At Summer Search, Amy is a conduit for inspirational energy, drawing on her broad background in leadership, strategy and education. At Bridgespan, Amy developed growth strategies for leading youth development organizations and implemented firm-wide initiatives to recruit and retain employees of color.
Amy holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, an MA in education from Stanford University School of Education, and a BA in English from Harvard University. She lives with her family in Oakland.
